The Importance of Cleaning your Rubbish Bins.
Regular cleaning is vital.
Rubbish bins often get forgotten, throw your rubbish in and then walk away. This is what a lot of people do and don’t realize the importance of regular cleaning. I would say once a week for checking and definitely a good clean each week or fortnight.
Using a really good germ-killing disinfectant inside the bin would be a good start:
For outside bins:
- Hose out bin.
- Spray disinfectant all around the inside.
- Hose out once again.
- Clean with disinfect the lid top and inside lid thoroughly.
- Clean and wipe down the outside of the bin.
- Leave the lid open and let the bin dry put in the sun.
For inside bins:
- Using your favorite disinfectant, completely clean the inside of your bins.
- Wipe the out sides as well.
- Use a dry cloth to wipe dry.
- Add a new bin liner.
Keeping used bread bags or any other type of small bags is handy. When you have food scraps like, chicken bones etc, put them into a small bag and tightly tie it. By doing this you are lessening the smell and odor food scraps create in bins, this deters fly’s and other nosey insects from coming into your bins.
Remember to wipe all inside bins, inside and around the outside, especially the lids. This not only deters dust but also little curious bugs. Speaking on dust, aside from bins, wiping all window sils is important too.
Items That Get Forgotten
Lives get so busy, we often forget some of the small items that need a little TLC as well.
- Toaster tray.
- Dryer vent.
- Washing machine filters.
- Vacuum filters and more.
Toasters: These get used nearly every day and the tray needs to be cleaned out. To do this, check at the bottom of your toaster and their should be a tray you can slide out. Bring it out and give it a good clean before putting it back in, try to do this at least weekly.
Dryer Vent: This is usually found just inside the door, it should easily come out. There will be a collection of fluff, which you will want to clean away. Put vent back in when done. This can be done after each dry and more often in the winter times.
